Sunday doings 7/29/12

Well, today is Sunday. I woke up this morning to a rather gray day but with cooler temperatures which is a relief! I decided to go out front and continue the never ending battle with crabgrass invading my flower beds along the walkway. I swear it was as if there was no garden, but flowers growing in the grass (or shall I say crabgrass!).
I had worked on it yesterday afternoon after the rain, which made it so much easier to pull the weeds. The front walk is in full sun, which means when the sun is shining and it is hot, its just about impossible to work out there. I am happy with the results of my labor:

There are some very pretty mysterious blue flowers growing as volunteers. I wonder if anyone knows what they might be?
Whatever they are they are welcome in my garden anytime, as they are so pretty!
Also thought I would share a picture of my lil ole bunny planted with succulents. He really is a welcome sight as you walk up to the front door.
I bought him this Spring at my favorite local nursery..Bayport Flower House. It is a family owned and run business that has been around for 80 years. They are so helpful and friendly, and it is a treat to the eyes to go there and browse their beautiful establishment! Its something so simple, yet such a joy to me.
I am making turkey chili in the crockpot today for dinner. I just love being able to prepare the ingredients in the morning then turn on the slow cooker, and have a delicious hot meal later in the day. It also makes it nice, because its a meal that EVERYONE in the family will eat and enjoy.

  1. If the blue flowers produce seeds that stick to everything, they may be Forget-me-Not flowers. I have them everywhere.
